Our Time Together

 Dear Workshop Participants, 

As we near the time for our two workshops “Resiliency and Resourcefulness in Contact Improvisation” and “Compositional Awareness in Contact Improvisation” we want to reach out and share our intentions for our time together. 

In the spirit of transparency, we want to create a vibrant, inclusive, and safe container for the practice of contact improvisation and compositional improvisation. For us, this means emphasizing dancing practice. 

Our shared ethos will be one of mutual respect and care for one another. That means thinking of others and the spaces we inhabit as important and worthy of consideration. 

It also means acknowledging power dynamics and structural oppression that exist in society that do not magically disappear in a dance workshop, between organizers, teachers and participants. 

We aim to create a space that is inclusive and respectful and a space that creates conscious intention and action. We invite you to join in these endeavors. 

We encourage you to approach consent as an ongoing and active practice. We are three CIS male teachers who will listen, observe and offer what we have learned from our decades of experience. 

We do not have all the answers, but will create an intentional space that aims to promote inclusivity and respect. 

We are curious about what you bring to the form.
